Midnight Marauders II - 721 to go

September 22nd, 2008 - No Comments »

Rode again with the midnight marauders. it was fun as usual. In that ride I learned two new things.  The first one that my camera can take cool photos like the one below. The second thing is: When two group of somewhat intoxicated people passes one another it takes just one scream from one party at the other and a frantic screaming and waving session ensues.

Happy Park(ing) day. I hope to see the various instillation here in town. Before I started bike salute I made another art project web site that deals with Traffic and photos.

The PR company incident.

I am going to be vague in order to kill this Non-Story. I read a funny post on an interesting blog and made a comment about it.
Before I wrote the comment, I searched the name of one of the characters in the story, let’s call him KA. I did this research because the story seemed to unreal. The first result in the search was KA public relations which seemed to fit the blog post, so I included the full name of this PR company in the comment. I did it not knowing that there might be someone else who has similar name and works in marketing too.

I hope this is the end of the story about two companies with the same name that work in the same trade.

All in one

The image below is a composite of all the bike salutes so far. I wrote a script in processing that accumulated the R,G and B values of each pixel than divided it by the number of images (267 so far).
The idea to do it came from seeing the work of a Jason Salavon
at a gallery last year.

composite

The resulting image was very gray so I normalized the image in Photoshop.

Similar yet different.

Images upgrade

September 9th, 2008 - No Comments »

This site is using AWSOM PixGallery plugin for Wordpress to handle the gallery part. By default the quality of the images in the gallery was 75 ( 75 is the default value in the imagejpeg function). I replaced one line of code and now the images are at 100 and they look so much better. It is trade off, now the images take more memory and  will load a little slower. I might have tweak the quality/file size ratio  it in the future if I’ll need to. In the meantime enjoy the new and improved images.

733 to go - Boulevard Lakefront Tour

September 8th, 2008 - No Comments »

I had a blast yesterday at the Boulevard Lakefront Tour . 62 miles (100 Kilometer) of cycling gave me a Runners High like never before. If I had a silly smile or was making stupid jokes while taking photos, blame the endorphins. The Weather was perfect, the atmosphere was friendly and the path was interesting. Who knew that there are hills inside the city limits? We covered lot of Terra incognita (at least for me). Bakelite78, The band that played at the post ride event was fun and even if no one danced I know that the music was appreciated.

UPDATE Brad Pierce, I messed up the photo of you and I apologize for that.  Thank you for posing.

UPDATE2 - INSULT TO INJURY It is Crairg Pierce whom I owe an apology for not having his picture taken properly. Another  apology goes to his brother Brad Pierce for mislabeling the his photo.

While I was taking pictures of bikers doing the bike salute last Friday (August 29th) fellow critical mass rider Don Sorsa was taking photos as well. His photos are a side view for some of the bike salutes I shot. You can see them on his site.
If you have photos of me taking photos please let know and I will gladly link to it.
