I became a member of the Chicago bike federation because they are good and because of some bike/local pride. The organization recently changed its name to active transportation alliance.

We changed our name to reflect our expanded mission to improve walking, bicycling and transit in the region. As the Chicagoland Bicycle Federation, our work already reflected this approach. We moved into the new areas of walking and transit to help broaden our voice, gain new allies in reaching our overall goals, and effectively win Complete Streets for all.

I think it makes sense. My grievances over the name change are sentimental.

In that ride I learned two new things. The first one that my camera can take cool photos like the one below. The second thing is: When two group of somewhat intoxicated people passes one another it takes just one scream from one party at the other and a frantic screaming and waving session ensues.

I am going to be vague in order to kill this Non-Story. I read a funny post on an interesting blog and made a comment about it.
Before I wrote the comment, I searched the name of one of the characters in the story, let’s call him KA. I did this research because the story seemed to unreal. The first result in the search was KA public relations which seemed to fit the blog post, so I included the full name of this PR company in the comment. I did it not knowing that there might be someone else who has similar name and works in marketing too.

I hope this is the end of the story about two companies with the same name that work in the same trade.

The image below is a composite of all the bike salutes so far. I wrote a script in processing that accumulated the R,G and B values of each pixel than divided it by the number of images (267 so far).
The idea to do it came from seeing the work of a Jason Salavon
at a gallery last year.

The resulting image was very gray so I normalized the image in Photoshop.
