Yes, I know it was almost a week ago.

The Bike to Work rally was the last event of bike to work week organized by ATA. That Friday happened to be a nice day after a week of miserable weather and people seemed to be very happy. The loudspeakers played it’s Friday I’m in love by the Cure which might be a cliche yet it put me in a great mood.

The Soldier field Critirium actually takes place at a parking lot south of the stadium. If you wanna come and see it don’t go into the stadium.

No naked pictures here. The world naked bike ride is a bike ride that happen every year in many cities around the world at the same time. The chicago ride is been going on for six years and is one of largest rides in the world. This year the ride met next to Harpo Studios on Randolph. People who came with their bikes were told where the secret start location of the ride was. While taking photos of bike salutes I was surprised to learn that many out of towners go there to take their photo with the Oprah sign.

The Northside Critical Mass meets every second friday at the young (no hat no beard) Lincoln sculpture at Senn park at the corner of Ridge, Clark and Thorndale.

it is going to be an action packed weekend, I have plans to be in 4 biking event this this weekend. I realized I have a lot of photos from daily plaza and I am determined venture out and think outside the mass.
In other news, in this I am using a plugin for wordpress called awsom for the gallery. The faces on the thumbnail were always too small so i changed the following line

imagecopyresampled ( $NewImageObject , $ImageObject, 0, 0, $X, $Y, $NewImageWidth, $NewImageHeight, $RealImageWidth, $RealImageHeight);

to

imagecopyresampled ($NewImageObject, $ImageObject, 0, 0, ceil ($RealImageWidth * 0.2), ceil ($RealImageHeight * 0.2), $NewImageWidth, $NewImageHeight, ceil ($RealImageWidth * 0.6 ), ceil ($RealImageHeight * 0.6 ) );

so that the thumbnail would be a smaller cropped (60%) version of the original image. The hidden cost is that the option for square thumbnails will now be disabled. There is probably an elegant way to it. if you code it let me know.

The Wicker park Critical mass is one of the local masses. It takes place on the first Friday of every month and it meets at the “Polish Triangle”.

Hubs and spokes was a panel discussion about bike culture organized by the Illinois humanities council and Chicago public radio. The discussion was interesting since it was really about the nature of advocacy.

It was an endless mass. it ended at some point I left after 3 and a half hours. How long can a good thing last.

I considered Bike the Drive an opportunity to check the performance of my bike and I in lab conditions. The smooth uninterrupted surface of lake shore drive provided a rare opportunity to see how long I can cycle at a fast pace.

I can imagine how fun it would be to have a “Bike the Runway” in O’hare or Midway. If it ever happens, it is most likely to take place in the third one before it opens for business.
